Wawrzyk noted that Poland "is in favor of expanding the EU sanctions, in particular, on the issue of suspension of the visa facilitation agreement for Russian citizens."

Meanwhile, according to the deputy minister of the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Germany, France and the Netherlands oppose the termination of the issuance of Schengen visas for Russian citizens.

“Due to the fact that it is impossible to break the resistance of these states in order to suspend the visa facilitation agreement for Russian citizens, the Polish Republic is working on a new solution,” RIA Novosti reports.

Wawrzyk also spoke about negotiations on this issue with a number of states.

“In the coming weeks, we can expect a decision on this issue,” he stated.

Earlier, the Estonian Foreign Ministry said that the country is closing the borders for Russian citizens with Schengen visas issued by the republic.

Estonia also called visas issued to Russians by other EU countries a problem.

Russian Permanent Representative to the European Union Vladimir Chizhov, in an interview with RT, called the decision of the Estonian Foreign Ministry complete nonsense.
