This evening, Sunday, Israeli warplanes bombed sites in the countryside of Damascus and the coastal governorate of Tartus, killing Syrian soldiers and causing fires.

The official Syrian News Agency (SANA) quoted a military source as saying that Israeli warplanes launched simultaneous raids on points in the countryside of Damascus and the southern countryside of Tartus Governorate (west), killing 3 soldiers and wounding 3 others.

Syrian television reported that Israeli planes fired missiles at the target sites in Tartus, from Lebanese airspace.

According to SANA, the Syrian air defenses confronted hostile targets in the sky of Tartus.

The Syrian Agency quoted a source in the Civil Defense in Tartous as saying that the fires caused by the Israeli bombing had been brought under control.

Al-Jazeera correspondent reported that Israeli planes launched missiles towards Syria from Lebanese airspace.

Meanwhile, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that the Israeli raids targeted sites of the Syrian regime forces where Iranian militias are located in the southern countryside of Tartous.

He added that some Israeli missiles hit an air defense base and a radar in the area, indicating that strong explosions were heard in the area.

The Syrian Observatory also said that ambulances rushed to the area to rescue the wounded and evacuate the dead.

During the past years, the Israeli aircraft carried out hundreds of air strikes on military targets in Syria, and Israeli officials say that these operations are aimed at preventing Iran from establishing its military presence there.
