Today, Friday, local media indicated that a number of injuries occurred as a result of a passenger train colliding with a concrete bumper at the "Nag Hammadi" station in Sohag Governorate in Upper Egypt.

It was reported that the movement of the Upper Egypt trains (south) was disrupted by the accident, without further details.

The concrete bumper is usually located at the end of the railway, and is intended to house the train.

Train accidents are frequent in Egypt, leaving many dead and injured.

And last June, Egypt witnessed two train collisions, which led to the deaths and injuries, one in the Alexandria Governorate (north), which resulted in 40 injured, and the other south of Cairo, which led to the death of two people and the injury of 6 others.

The Egyptian Ministry of Transport says that it is implementing a comprehensive plan to develop train cars and stations, in parallel with holding those responsible for such accidents accountable.
