The shift between the train companies was made on June 12 and since then there have been turbulent times on the railway tracks.

Earlier, SVT Gävleborg reported on several canceled departures and delayed trains.

MTR Mälartåg operates the route on behalf of Mälardalstrafik and the reason behind the problem is said to be both a lack of train drivers and a tight holiday schedule for existing staff.

Expensive to set up

MTR Mälartåg has previously had to pay large fines to Mälardalståg after not being able to complete the planned train service.

- What it may have cost for the route to Gävle since we took over in June, I do not know, but if the departures are not run, they will not receive compensation for the traffic, says Katarina Myrberg, communicator at Mälardalstrafik.

Too few train drivers

The 240 canceled trains correspond to almost a tenth of all planned traffic on the route between Gävle and Uppsala - this is shown by statistics from Mälardalstrafik during the period 12 June to 6 August.

According to Katarina Myrberg, MTR has too few train drivers, which resulted in 80 percent of all canceled trains being caused by staff shortages.

The diagrams show when there have been the most canceled trains on the route between Uppsala and Gävle.
