Two security sources told Reuters that a fire broke out this morning in a church in Giza Governorate in Egypt, killing at least 35 people and wounding 45.

The Middle East News Agency said that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi had telephoned Pope Tawadros, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the Coptic Orthodox Church, where he offered his condolences for the victims of the Giza church accident.

The presidential spokesman, Ambassador Bassam Rady, stated that Sisi confirmed during the call that all state institutions would provide the necessary support to contain the effects of this tragic accident.
