This is stated in the comments of the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

“We consider the attack of the Montenegrin authorities as another episode of the hybrid campaign unleashed by the West and its satellites against Russia,” the statement says.

Zakharova stressed that the expulsion of the Russian diplomat is devoid of reasons and logic.

The Russian Foreign Ministry noted that Russia sees in this step of Podgorica the unwillingness and inability to "depart from the policy of mechanically following such a destructive line."

The statement also said that Russia reserves the right to respond to the actions of Montenegro.

On August 12, the Montenegrin Foreign Ministry announced that the Russian diplomat was declared persona non grata.

The Russian Foreign Ministry promised to give an appropriate response to the country.
