Holidays: many French people have chosen Barcelona as their destination this summer

Many French people have chosen Spain as a holiday destination this summer, and in particular Barcelona.

Europe 1 went to meet them.

In the tourist places of Barcelona, ​​it is almost impossible not to come across French people.

For regulars, like Éric, who is visiting the city for the fourth time, it is quite simply a rare pearl.

"It's a city that combines everything in one: a lot of cultures, history. The city itself, with the different districts, is very beautiful. We also have the sea", explains the holidaymaker.

"There are so many things to do in Barcelona"

An ocean of possibilities concentrated on a few kilometres.

This is exactly what Vanessa and Angèle came to look for.

"We live in the countryside, we prefer the city to discover lots of things. There are so many things to do in Barcelona", they explain, sitting on a bench after several hours of visiting.

A few steps away, Danny and his friends are in the middle of a photo shoot in front of the Sagrada Familia.

It was both the desire to visit an emblematic city and their budget that convinced them.

"It's more accessible. There's public transport everywhere. You don't need to take the car. It's cheaper and for students, it's perfect," says the group of friends.

And of course, it is also its reputation as a festive city that attracts tourists to Barcelona.

Mathieu and Valérien, who had arrived the day before, wasted no time in settling down on the terrace with a cocktail.

"There are the ramblas and the tapas bars, it's a beautiful seaside resort. Without forgetting the clubs, we're going out tonight", rejoice the two friends.

An evening that should end on the beach in the early morning.
