Local authorities said at least three people were killed and 15 others injured on Friday in Russian shelling of the Ukrainian towns of Kramatorsk in the east and Zaporizhia in the south.

A local official in Zaporijjia, Anatoly Kourtev, for his part reported on Telegram the death of a woman on Friday in Russian strikes which also injured two people who were hospitalized.

A kyiv counter-offensive in the Donbass

Since the withdrawal of Russian forces from around kyiv and Kharkiv at the end of March, most of the fighting has taken place in the Donbass, an industrial basin in eastern Ukraine, and in the south, where kyiv is leading a counter-offensive.
