Zakharova: Western countries try to blame Russia over Zaporozhye nuclear power plant

On August 12, local time, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Zakharova commented on the situation at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.

She said that Russia's permanent representative to the United Nations, Nebenja, made an objective and detailed assessment of the situation at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant at the meeting of the UN Security Council.

Russia believes that the current threat from the nuclear power plant is caused by Ukraine.

Zakharova said that Russia's position has many similarities with the analysis of IAEA Director General Grossi.

The Russian side believes that the United States and European countries are competing to call for the "demilitarization" of nuclear power plants and their surrounding areas, but these countries are reluctant to conduct a serious analysis of the current situation.

Zakharova believes that the purpose of all diplomatic measures currently adopted by Western countries is to blame Russia when there is a disaster and threat at the nuclear power plant.

Zakharova believes that it is precisely because of this position of Western countries that the IAEA's planned visit to the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant in June failed to take place.

Russia urges Ukraine and its Western supporters not to interfere in the work of the International Atomic Energy Agency, and that relevant experts should see the real situation of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant with their own eyes.

On the 11th local time, the Russian Ministry of Defense said that the Ukrainian army launched multiple attacks on the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.

The Ukrainian State Nuclear Energy Corporation issued a statement accusing the Russian army of continuing to shell the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.

At the same time, both sides said that the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant is currently in a safe state and the radiation level has not exceeded the standard.
