Russian justice is not letting go of journalist Marina Ovsiannikova.

The one who made herself famous throughout the world by brandishing, in the middle of the television news, a sign against the Russian offensive in Ukraine, can no longer leave her home.

After having her arrested on Wednesday, a Russian court placed her under house arrest until October 9 as part of an investigation for disseminating information considered by the authorities to be false about the army.

The action of the journalist in question dates back to mid-July, when she had, near the Kremlin, held up a sign criticizing the offensive in Ukraine and the "propaganda" of the media controlled by the power, during an action of lonely protest.

Under a new article of the penal code adopted after the start of the conflict to deter criticism, she faces up to 10 years in prison.

Not enough to stop Marina Ovsiannikova who, during her hearing on Thursday, held up a sign that read: “May the dead children (during the conflict in Ukraine) haunt you in your dreams”.

Since the end of July, Ms. Ovsiannikova has also been sentenced twice to fines for having “discredited” the Russian army, in particular on the basis of messages criticizing the offensive in Ukraine published on social networks.
