Around Katrineholm, in four places every afternoon, the initiative "Lykliga gatorna" has received primary school students on summer vacation and created a meeting place for play, games and crafts.

The activities have been in Sveaparken, Nävertorpshallen and the skate park as well as at Västra skolan.

The happy streets have also been roaming in smaller towns in the municipality one day a week.

- We want to create meaningful leisure activities for children and young people.

They should feel involved but also proud of their city, says Anna-Karin Sjökvist, library director in Katrineholm and participant in Lyckliga gatorna.

Started in 2016

The venture started as a project in 2016 but has been a permanent part of the municipality's operations for a couple of years now.

The aim is to create security and fill the summer holidays with activities for children and young people.

Especially for those families who don't always have the opportunity to go on holiday.
