“According to a long-standing tradition, on this August day, relatives of the victims, representatives of the command of the Russian Navy and veteran submariners come to the memorial at the Serafimovsky cemetery to honor the memory of the sailors of the Northern Fleet.

A wreath is being laid at the memorial from the government of St. Petersburg, ”the message says.

The tragedy occurred during the exercises of the Northern Fleet in the Barents Sea on August 12, 2000.

The crew of the cruiser on this day is remembered in all fleets and in all cities where submariners and their relatives lived.
