A portion of the ordinary allocation tax scheduled to be delivered next month will be advanced and delivered to 15 municipalities in Aomori and Fukui prefectures that were damaged by record heavy rain.

Ordinary local allocation tax is distributed by the national government four times a year to compensate for the lack of financial resources of local governments.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications will provide 5,922 million yen, part of the ordinary allocation tax scheduled to be delivered next month, to 15 municipalities in Aomori and Fukui prefectures, which suffered heavy rains from the 3rd of this month. I decided to move it up to the 15th of this month and deliver it.

The breakdown is

▽ 5,662 million yen for 14 municipalities in Aomori Prefecture, and

▽ 260 million yen for Minami Echizen Town, Fukui Prefecture.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications has already advanced part of the ordinary allocation tax to a total of 20 municipalities in Yamagata, Niigata, and Ishikawa prefectures that were damaged by heavy rains during the same period.

Internal Affairs and Communications Minister Terada said, ``We will continue to take appropriate measures so as not to hinder the financial management of local governments, based on the damage situation nationwide due to heavy rains.''
