Head of the Political Bureau of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), Ismail Haniyeh, announced today, Friday, that the State of Qatar has pledged to rebuild the houses destroyed as a result of the recent Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.

According to a statement issued by Haniyeh's office, the Qatari Foreign Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani, informed the Hamas leader of the approval of the reconstruction of the demolished houses.

Haniyeh expressed, according to the statement, his "deep appreciation to the Emir, government and people of Qatar for this noble position, which is added to its honorable record in the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip through the Qatari Reconstruction Committee headed by Ambassador Mohammed Al Emadi."

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Public Works and Housing in Gaza, Naji Sarhan, had said earlier that the recent aggression caused the total demolition of 18 housing units, and 71 housing units were severely demolished and became uninhabitable, while partial damages affected about 1,675 housing units.

The Israeli aggression also led to the death of 49 Palestinians, including 17 children, while 360 ​​others were injured, according to an official statistics of the Ministry of Health in the Strip.

Over the course of 3 days (from Friday to Sunday last week), a military confrontation erupted between the Israeli army and the Palestinian resistance in the Gaza Strip, led by the Islamic Jihad movement, which ended with an Egyptian-brokered ceasefire.
