According to the report compiled by the South American Overseas Chinese News Network, data released by the Ecuadorian Ministry of Tourism shows that in the first half of 2022, Ecuador's tourism surplus will reach 63.2 million US dollars, which is Ecuador's fourth largest source of income in the non-oil sector.

  Ecuador's tourism industry showed signs of positive recovery in the first half of this year compared to the same period in 2019 and 2021, Ecuador's "Business Daily" reported.

  From January to March this year, Ecuador’s foreign exchange earnings from tourism amounted to US$313.5 million, more than double the same period in 2021, data show.

  In addition, in the first half of this year, foreign tourist arrivals have recovered to 45% of the level in the same period in 2019, a 155% increase from the same period in 2021.

  In terms of source countries, the United States is the largest source country of inbound tourists to Ecuador with a share of 37.7%, followed by Colombia, Spain, Peru, Canada and Germany.
