In July last year, 10.4 percent were registered as unemployed at the Employment Service in Sörmland.

At the same time this year, unemployment has fallen to 9.1 percent.

Behind the percentages were 12,600 unemployed Sörmlanders in July.

The figure a year ago was 14,700.

Most of those who were unemployed in July have foreign origins: 7,900 people.

Slightly more women than men were registered as unemployed: 6,400 against 6,200.

The downward trend looks the same throughout the country.

Last year, 408,000 people were unemployed in Sweden, now the figure is 340,000.

Despite the fact that unemployment is falling in the county, Sörmland tops the unflattering top list of counties with the most jobless:

1. Södermanland: 9.1 percent

2. Gävleborg: 8.9 percent

3. Skåne: 8.6 percent
