A boy in his early teens died in connection with a drowning accident in Tierp at 4pm on Thursday.

At about the same time, an alarm was received about a drowning in Ljungby in Småland.

The 85-year-old man received cardiopulmonary resuscitation on site, but his life could not be saved.

At around 8pm in the evening, a man was found lifeless in the water in Bredsand just south of Sundsvall.

He was taken to hospital by ambulance, but later in the evening the police announced that he had died from his injuries.

He has not been identified.

Up to and including July 31, 46 people had died in drowning accidents, according to the Swedish Lifesaving Society's statistics.

Last year, 76 people had died at the same time.
