On Tuesday, there were reports of a series of explosions at a Russian military air base in Crimea.

One person died and five were injured in the explosions, according to the Ministry of Health of the Crimean Peninsula.

Three craters on the satellite image indicate, according to Paasikivi, that the air base has been subjected to a precision attack.

- You have hit exactly where you want, he says.

Russia claims the explosions were caused by an accident at an ammunition depot.

Something that is not true according to Paasikivi.

But the Russian rhetoric has an explanation.

- You don't want to let Ukraine be this competent opponent that you are then forced to admit that they are.

He also thinks it can be a way to avoid the pressure of a military response against Ukraine, either because you don't want to or because you lack the ability.

- This also avoids responding to a Ukrainian attack.

It was "we", and then we don't have to make any counter-moves, he says.

Ukraine has not officially claimed responsibility for the attack.

In the clip, Paasikivi reasons about why people choose to do that.
