Senegal: Deputy Pape Diop joins the presidential coalition and gives it the majority

Pending the Constitutional Court's decision on the results of the legislative elections, the presidential coalition Benno Bokk Yaakar finally achieved an absolute majority in the National Assembly.

This majority is not however comfortable, whereas the inter-coalition of the opposition Yewwi Askane Wi – Wallu keeps its 80 parliamentary seats.

He thus joins the parliamentary group which will be set up by the presidential coalition Benno Bokk Yaakar.

Thanks to his rallying, the power camp now has 83 seats out of 165.

The former President of the National Assembly, at the head of the Bokk Guiss Guiss Liguey coalition, won a seat in the last legislative elections, where the opposition and the majority came neck and neck, placing him and two other deputies as "

With this additional seat, the coalition in power certainly obtains an absolute majority, but which remains uncomfortable, because the slightest defection could make them lose a vote, estimates political scientist Moussa Diaw.

The eyes are therefore now riveted on the two deputies who have not yet decided on the camp they were going to join.
