Hostage crisis.. the detainee surrenders to the Lebanese security authorities in exchange for $30,000 from his deposit

More than 6 hours after the seizure of hostages by force of arms, inside the Federal Bank in Hamra, Beirut, the most dangerous in Lebanon since the banking crisis, negotiations between armed depositor Bassam Sheikh Hussein and the bank’s administration succeeded in releasing the hostages and surrendering himself to the security forces, in return for paying 30 One thousand dollars out of the 210 thousand dollars he deposited in cash in US dollars, An-Nahar newspaper reported.


 During the release of the detainees, depositors demonstrating in front of the bank threw water bottles at the security forces, amidst a state of confusion.


The depositor entered the bank, demanding that he hand over his money, while he was carrying a military weapon and gasoline, threatening to set himself on fire and kill those in the branch, and he brandished his weapon in the face of the branch manager.


The gunman threatened the bank's employees, in addition to a number of citizens who were inside the bank, and demanded to get his money.


The gunman sprayed gasoline inside the bank, closed the door, and shot inside the bank, and the employees were frightened and panicked.


Civil defense teams went to the bank, and members of the security forces went to the vicinity of the bank and prevented citizens from approaching the bank.
