Guinea: the junta raises its voice, the FNDC refuses to bend

The National Front for the Defense of the Constitution (FNDC), which regularly opposes the junta, rejects its dissolution pronounced by the transitional government.

To justify his decision to dissolve the FNDC, the Minister of Territorial Administration and Decentralization Mory Condé assures us that he does not want " 

to silence discordant voices 

", but he considers that the collective " 

threatens peace and public stability

 .

The decree recording the dissolution of the FNDC describes it as " 

a de facto group

 " which " 

has always distinguished itself through violence

 ", and compares its actions in the demonstrations to those of a " 

private militia 

".

The document also accuses him of " 

targeted actions against law enforcement

 " and of using minors under the age of 13.

Elements likely to "

 endanger national unity

 ", according to the ministry, which specifies that the FNDC is not listed on any list of organizations and associations in Guinea.

In response, the national coordination of the FNDC indicates that it is a “ 

citizen movement, a drive towards democracy

 ”.
