According to the economist, today such an initiative will be difficult to implement.

As the expert explained, almost doubling the minimum wage could be burdensome for the budget and cause the so-called “ripple effect”.

As an example, the specialist cited a situation where the salary of the least productive person is equal to the minimum wage - 15,279 rubles.

“The minimum wage from 15 thousand rubles is offered (increase. -

) to 30 thousand rubles, but suppose the next employee receives 18 thousand, the other - 25 thousand, you can’t raise the salary to 30 thousand for one employee from 15 thousand, and leave the rest in place.

So, in fact, it is necessary to double the wage fund,” Ostapkovich said.

He also recalled that more than 60% of Russia's territory is in permafrost, and people receive northern allowances.

“A person who received 15 thousand will receive 30 thousand, and he also has a bonus coefficient, that is, it is 60 thousand,” the RT interlocutor added.

The expert said that it is necessary to increase the volume of the economy, then "profits and profitability will increase, and entrepreneurs will be able to increase wages."

Earlier it became known that the minimum wage in Russia is proposed to be increased to 30 thousand rubles, they expect to do this from January 1, 2023.
