A demonstration will be launched in Iraq today, Friday, by the masses of civil and democratic forces, unions and professional unions to demand the dissolution of Parliament and the holding of early legislative elections.

Saleh Muhammad al-Iraqi, who is close to the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, called on followers of the movement to go out today, Friday, in mass gatherings in the governorates to express support for reform and fight corruption.

In a press statement, he called on Sadr's followers to go out in mass gatherings this afternoon, each according to their governorate, to support reform, fight corruption and participate in filling out legal forms and submitting them to the Federal Supreme Court in Iraq in order to dissolve Parliament.

The protesters called to continue their sit-in inside the Iraqi parliament.

It is expected that separate areas in Baghdad will witness demonstrations by the masses of the civil democratic movement in Al-Firdous Square to demand the dissolution of the Iraqi parliament and the holding of early parliamentary elections.

The General Coordinator of the Democratic Current, Lawyer Zuhair Zia El-Din, said that "the Friday demonstration is to convey the cry of the masses choked from the fire of quotas against the deterioration of the political process and repeated blockages, and the failure to reach effective and real solutions to crises."

He stated that "the participation of the Iraqi Democratic Movement is not limited to Baghdad's coordination, but the coordination of the governorates of Babil, Karbala, Diyala and Salah al-Din will participate, and we will work with all national forces to reach a radical solution to address the suffering and crises experienced by the Iraqi citizen."

On the other hand, the masses of the coordination framework intend to stage demonstrations this Friday afternoon near the Suspension Bridge Square in the Jadriya neighborhood at the walls of the Green Zone in Baghdad, in defense of constitutional legitimacy and the rule of law.

The Organizing Committee for Supporting Legitimacy and Preserving State Institutions affiliated with the Coordination Framework Forces said in a press statement, “Belief in the necessity of standing with the legal and constitutional steps to defend the state’s judicial and legislative institutions, and in order to expedite the formation of a national service government with full powers that works to confront crises and challenges, we call upon To the people of the people to participate actively in demonstrations under the slogan (the people protect the state).

The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mustafa Al-Kazemi, called on the political blocs to assume their responsibilities by resolving the issue of the political blockage and resorting to dialogue to resolve differences for the sake of Iraq's interest and its future.

Al-Kazemi warned all political forces, "We have no choice but to dialogue, and that dialogue for a thousand years is better than the moment we clash with as Iraqis."

The protesters of the Sadrist movement inside the parliament building began filing lawsuits with the Federal Supreme Court of Iraq in order to demand the dissolution of the current Iraqi parliament, and to oblige the President of the Republic to set a date for holding legislative elections in accordance with the Iraqi constitution in order to preserve the integrity of the country and overcome crises by adhering to the provisions of the Iraqi constitution.

This step, which will last for four days, comes in response to a request from Muqtada al-Sadr to all his supporters to submit formal lawsuits to the Federal Supreme Court and through legal means through the central committee supervising the sit-ins of the Sadrist movement, which continues for the second week in a row in front of the Iraqi parliament headquarters inside the government’s Green Zone.

Al-Sadr had called on the head of the Supreme Judicial Council, Faeq Zeidan, to dissolve parliament no later than the end of next week, correct the course after the end of the constitutional deadlines and assign the President of the Republic to set a date for early elections conditional on several conditions.

Separate areas in Baghdad are witnessing strict security measures and a heavy deployment of security forces to establish security and order amid calls for restraint, calm and dialogue.
