The Abu Dhabi Health Services Company, "SEHA", identified six symptoms of a person's heat stroke, which included high body temperature, redness of the skin, nausea and vomiting, rapid breathing, rapid heart rate, in addition to headache, while the head of the endocrinology department at Tawam Hospital warned SEHA Group, Dr. Bashar Effendi, of UV rays and the importance of being very careful to prevent them in the summer.

In detail, Effendi stressed that exposure to sunlight has many health benefits and contributes significantly to regulating the various physiological functions of the body, and that sunlight is the most effective natural way to stimulate the production of vitamin D in the body, but exposure to it for periods of time. Prolonged may negatively affect the body and lead to the emergence of side effects, such as skin burns and heat stroke.

Effendi told "Emirates Today": "Exposure to ultraviolet rays of the sun may damage the cells of the skin and eyes, as exposure to these rays for prolonged periods causes changes in the skin at the level of tissues, cells and nuclei, which leads to the appearance of symptoms of aging and sagging of the skin, and this may be accompanied by Also with changes and abnormalities in the genes and can cause damage to the eyes, including the density of the lens of the eye, its opacity and cracked lips.

He added: "The UV index is the most important criterion for countries to determine the rates of these rays present in the atmosphere and determine the extent of their danger to humans, and the danger of these rays increases with the high rate of the index, as it is classified according to five rates: the moderate rate from one to Two, the average rate from three to five, the high rate from six to seven, the very high rate from eight to 10, and the very dangerous rate, i.e. above 10.”

Effendi pointed out that there is no direct relationship between temperature and the UV index, as the latter indicates the angle of arrival of the sun’s rays to the earth, pointing out that exposure to the sun’s ultraviolet rays with a high intensity rate for periods of more than 15 minutes, in conjunction with high temperatures, It negatively affects the ability of the skin to continue performing the thermal insulation function and thus leads to rapid dehydration of the body.

He stressed that the degree to which individuals are affected by sunlight and ultraviolet rays damage depends on various factors, including skin color, as it increases for those who have light skin, the age of the individual, his genetic characteristics, the intensity of those rays, the duration and place of exposure, pointing out that during the summer, the period is considered The period between 10 am and 4 pm is the most dangerous period for direct sun exposure, so it is recommended to wear appropriate clothes and use effective creams to protect against harmful rays of the sun, and be very careful when the rates of ultraviolet rays and temperature are significantly high.

Effendi warned that ultraviolet rays may not be harmful until years after exposure, as symptoms of exposure to these rays include extreme thirst, redness of the skin, headache, high temperature, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, dryness of the body and skin, and delirium, stressing the need to avoid injuries caused by heat stroke by reducing exposure periods. Avoid direct rays, stay in shaded places, wear hats, cover the eyes, nose and skin of the head, in addition to protecting the hands and legs by using skin protection creams, lip balms, umbrellas and protective sunglasses, and of course, drinking enough water.

Symptoms of UV exposure:

■ redness of the skin and high temperature.

■ dizziness, nausea and vomiting.

■ dryness of the body and skin, delirium.
