"They stopped a man in front of me. The

chase was like a rally

, it was like an action movie that you were in."

José Luis still cannot believe the scene he witnessed this Tuesday while walking with his dogs in front of the Plaza de Las Ventas.

The clock was over 9:00 p.m. when he saw about

a dozen police vehicles parade "at high speed."

Suddenly, they "stopped dead" next to the Caldeiro school and surrounded a young man who was walking on the sidewalk, just 20 meters from José Luis.

"

They threw him to the ground, they subdued him

and took him away in a patrol car."

Police sources reveal to this newspaper that this was one of the two motorcyclists arrested on Tuesday, who had previously

fled on a "stolen" motorcycle.

two kilometer escape

It all started at the confluence of Príncipe de Vergara with Hermosilla, when a vehicle from the National Police stopped them,

skipping the order, as well as dozens of traffic lights

in a flight that lasted almost two kilometers.

Crossing forbidden streets at great speed, "zigzagging and

endangering pedestrians

," they reached Florestán Aguilar Street, where a Municipal Police patrol cut off their path,

colliding with the motorcycle against them.

Another neighbor of the neighborhood saw this blow, after which the offenders ran away.

One of them threw the helmet, which was picked up by this Madrid woman to later hand it over to the authorities: "It was big, it weighed a lot and it had

a built-in microphone to talk to each other

."

Both malefactors had to be treated by doctors after the incident, one of them being discharged on the spot and the other transferred to the hospital.

For his part, a municipal agent was also

injured with "minor bruises"

, as Samur sources tell this newspaper, being examined and discharged on the spot.

Extensive criminal history

After searching the motorcycle, the National Police agents found "many tools

compatible with carrying out a robbery

": an iron mallet, screwdrivers, chisels, scissors to cut cables... No personal effects were found, so that the hypothesis that is handled is that they were arrested

before committing any crime.

The same police sources specify that both, Spaniards aged 36 and 33, had an

extensive criminal record

.

"One has six records, among which are theft of a vehicle, theft, robbery with force and crime against road safety.

The other has had 34 arrests.

The last ones have been for attacking law enforcement officers, vehicle theft , crime against road safety", they detail, to infer that it was not the first time that both motorists faced such an event.
