Trump refuses to answer questions from the New York Civil Investigation

Former US President Donald Trump announced Wednesday that he refused to answer questions during his appearance under oath before the New York attorney general, who is conducting a civil investigation into alleged fraud in his family's business practices.

"I declined to answer questions under the rights and privileges granted to every citizen by the US Constitution," Trump said in a statement.

"When your family, your company, and everyone in your circle becomes the targets of a false and politically motivated campaign of persecution with the support of lawyers, prosecutors, and disinformation media, you have no choice," he added.
