  foreword

Solving the Taiwan issue and realizing the complete reunification of the motherland is the common aspiration of all Chinese sons and daughters, an inevitable requirement for realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, and an unswerving historical task of the Communist Party of China.

The Communist Party of China, the Chinese government and the Chinese people have made long-term and unremitting efforts to this end.

Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a new era.

Under the strong leadership of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, the Communist Party of China and the Chinese government have actively promoted theoretical and practical innovations in Taiwan work, firmly grasped the dominance and initiative in cross-strait relations, vigorously maintained peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait, and steadily advanced the process of national reunification. .

However, for a period of time, the Taiwan Democratic Progressive Party authorities have stepped up their separatist activities for "Taiwan independence", and some external forces have tried their best to "use Taiwan to control China" in an attempt to prevent China from achieving complete reunification and the Chinese nation's great rejuvenation.

The Communist Party of China unites and leads the people of all ethnic groups in the country to strive for a long time, build a moderately prosperous society in an all-round way as scheduled, realize the first centenary goal, start a new journey to build a modern socialist country in an all-round way, and march towards the second centenary goal.

The Chinese nation has ushered in a great leap from standing up, becoming rich to becoming strong, and realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation has entered an irreversible historical process.

This is the new historical orientation of China's great cause of reunification.

In August 1993 and February 2000, the Chinese government released the white papers "The Taiwan Question and China's Reunification" and "The One-China Principle and the Taiwan Question", which comprehensively and systematically expounded the basic principles and relevant policies for solving the Taiwan question.

In order to further reaffirm the fact and status quo that Taiwan is a part of China, demonstrate the firm will and determination of the Communist Party of China and the Chinese people to pursue the reunification of the motherland, and expound the position and policies of the Communist Party of China and the Chinese government in advancing the realization of the reunification of the motherland in the new era, this edition is hereby issued. white paper.

  1. Taiwan is an unquestionable and unchangeable part of China

Taiwan has a clear historical latitude and latitude as a part of China since ancient times, and its jurisprudence and facts are clear.

New archaeological discoveries and research continue to demonstrate the deep historical and cultural ties between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait.

A large number of historical books and documents record the early development of Taiwan by the Chinese people.

In 230 AD, the earliest account of Taiwan was written by Shen Ying of the Wu Dynasty during the Three Kingdoms period.

The government of the Sui Dynasty sent troops three times to Taiwan, which was then called "Liuqiu".

After the Song and Yuan Dynasties, the central governments of all dynasties in China began to set up governments in Penghu and Taiwan to implement administrative jurisdiction.

In 1624, Dutch colonists occupied southern Taiwan.

In 1662, the national hero Zheng Chenggong expelled the Dutch colonists to recover Taiwan.

The Qing government gradually expanded its administrative agencies in Taiwan. In 1684, the Taiwan Government was established under the jurisdiction of Fujian Province. In 1885, Taiwan was re-established as a province, which was the 20th province in China at that time.

In July 1894, Japan launched the Sino-Japanese War of aggression against China, and in April of the following year forced the defeated Qing government to cede Taiwan and the Penghu Islands.

During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the Chinese Communists clearly put forward the idea of recovering Taiwan.

On May 15, 1937, Comrade Mao Zedong said when he met American journalist Nim Wells: "China's war of resistance requires the final victory. liberation."

On December 9, 1941, the Chinese government issued a declaration of war against Japan, declaring that "all treaties, agreements, and contracts involving relations between China and Japan shall be abolished", and announced that it would take back Taiwan and the Penghu Islands.

On December 1, 1943, the governments of China, the United States, and the United Kingdom issued the Cairo Declaration, announcing that the purpose of the three countries was to return the territories Japan had stolen from China, such as Northeast China, Taiwan, and the Penghu Islands.

On July 26, 1945, the Potsdam Proclamation, which was jointly signed by China, the United States, and the United Kingdom, and later joined by the Soviet Union, reiterated that "the conditions of the Cairo Declaration will be implemented."

In September of the same year, Japan signed the "Japanese Surrender Clause", promising to "faithfully fulfill the obligations stipulated in the Potsdam Proclamation".

On October 25, the Chinese government announced that it "resumed the exercise of sovereignty over Taiwan", and held the "Surrender Ceremony of Taiwan Province of China's Theater" in Taipei.

Thus, through a series of documents with international legal force, China regained Taiwan de jure and de facto.

On October 1, 1949, the Central People's Government of the People's Republic of China was proclaimed, replacing the Government of the Republic of China as the sole legal government representing the whole of China.

This is a regime change under the condition that China, the subject of international law, has not changed. China's sovereignty and inherent territorial boundaries have not changed. The government of the People's Republic of China fully enjoys and exercises China's sovereignty, including sovereignty over Taiwan.

Due to the continuation of China's civil war and the interference of external forces, the two sides of the Taiwan Strait have fallen into a special state of long-term political confrontation. However, China's sovereignty and territory have never been divided and will never be allowed to be divided. Taiwan's status as part of China's territory has never changed and will never be changed. .

In October 1971, the 26th United Nations General Assembly adopted Resolution 2758, which decided: "Restore all rights of the People's Republic of China, recognize the representative of her government as the only legal representative of China in the United Nations organization and immediately remove the representative of Chiang Kai-shek from it. Expel from the seats illegally occupied in the United Nations Organization and all its affiliated institutions.” This resolution not only completely resolved the issue of the representation of the whole of China, including Taiwan, in the United Nations politically, legally and procedurally, but also made clear Since China has only one seat in the United Nations, there is no such thing as "two Chinas" or "one China, one Taiwan".

Subsequently, the relevant specialized agencies of the United Nations restored the legitimate seat enjoyed by the People's Republic of China and expelled the "representatives" of the Taiwan authorities by means of formal resolutions, such as Resolution 25.1 passed by the 25th World Health Assembly in May 1972.

The official legal opinion of the Office of Legal Affairs of the United Nations Secretariat clearly states that "Taiwan, as a province of China, has no independent status" and that "the Taiwan authorities do not enjoy any form of government status."

In practice, the title used by the United Nations for Taiwan is "Taiwan, Province of China"①.

Resolution 2758 of the UN General Assembly is a political document that embodies the one-China principle. International practice has fully confirmed its legal validity and cannot be misinterpreted.

Taiwan has no basis, reason or right to participate in the United Nations and other international organizations that only sovereign states can participate in.

In recent years, some forces in individual countries headed by the United States have allied with the "Taiwan independence" separatist forces, falsely claiming that the resolution does not address the "issue of Taiwan's representation", hyping up the illegal and invalid "San Francisco Peace Treaty", and disregarding the Cairo Declaration, the Potsdam Declaration A series of international legal documents, including the Announcement, once again advocated that "Taiwan's status is undecided" and claimed to support Taiwan's "meaningful participation in the United Nations system." In essence, it was an attempt to change Taiwan's status as a part of China and create "two Chinas." , "one China, one Taiwan", to achieve its political purpose of "taking Taiwan to control China".

These actions distort the Resolution 2758 of the UN General Assembly, violate international law, seriously betray the political commitments made by relevant countries to China, violate China's sovereignty and dignity, and trample on the basic norms of international relations.

In this regard, the Chinese government has expressed its solemn position of opposition and condemnation.

The one-China principle is the general consensus of the international community and the proper meaning of abiding by the basic norms of international relations.

At present, 181 countries, including the United States, have established diplomatic relations with China on the basis of the one-China principle.

The "Communiqué on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between China and the United States" issued in December 1978 stated: "The government of the United States of America recognizes China's position that there is only one China and Taiwan is a part of China"; "The United States of America recognizes that the government of the People's Republic of China is the sole legal government of China. To this extent, the people of the United States will maintain cultural, commercial and other unofficial relations with the people of Taiwan."

In December 1982, the Fifth Session of the Fifth National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China adopted the "Constitution of the People's Republic of China", which stipulates: "Taiwan is a part of the sacred territory of the People's Republic of China. To complete the great cause of reunification of the motherland is to include Taiwan compatriots. In March 2005, the Third Session of the Tenth National People's Congress passed the Anti-Secession Law, which stipulated: "There is only one China in the world, and both the mainland and Taiwan belong to one China. , China's sovereignty and territorial integrity cannot be divided. Safeguarding national sovereignty and territorial integrity is the common obligation of all Chinese people, including Taiwan compatriots." "Taiwan is part of China. The country will never allow 'Taiwan independence' separatist forces in any name. , to separate Taiwan from China by any means." In July 2015, the 15th meeting of the Standing Committee of the 12th National People's Congress passed the National Security Law of the People's Republic of China, which stipulates: "China's sovereignty and territorial integrity are Inviolability and division cannot be tolerated. Safeguarding national sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity is the common duty of all Chinese people, including compatriots in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan."

There is only one China in the world, and the historical and legal facts that Taiwan is a part of China cannot be doubted. The status of Taiwan has never been a country but a part of China cannot be changed.

Any actions that distort the facts, deny and challenge the one-China principle will end in failure.

  2. The Communist Party of China unswervingly promotes the complete reunification of the motherland

The Communist Party of China has always been committed to seeking happiness for the Chinese people and rejuvenation for the Chinese nation.

In the early days of its establishment, the Communist Party of China made great efforts to strive for Taiwan to get rid of colonial rule and return to the big family of the motherland, and to achieve national liberation, including the Taiwan compatriots.

The Communist Party of China has always regarded resolving the Taiwan issue and realizing the complete reunification of the motherland as its unswerving historical mission, united and led compatriots on both sides of the strait, and pushed the situation in the Taiwan Strait from tense confrontation to relaxation and improvement, and then embarked on the path of peaceful development.

After the founding of New China, the Chinese Communists, with Comrade Mao Zedong as the main representative, put forward important ideas, basic principles and policy proposals for the peaceful settlement of the Taiwan question; they prepared and fought for the liberation of Taiwan, and smashed the Taiwan authorities' plan of "counterattacking the mainland". , thwarted various attempts to create "two Chinas" and "one China, one Taiwan"; facilitated the restoration of the legitimate seat and all rights of the People's Republic of China in the United Nations, and won the overwhelming majority of countries in the world to accept the one-China principle. Peaceful reunification created important conditions.

The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China has also contacted high-level officials of the Taiwan authorities through appropriate channels and made active efforts to seek a peaceful solution to the Taiwan issue.

After the Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the Chinese Communists, with Comrade Deng Xiaoping as the main representative, proceeded from the fundamental interests of the country and the nation, under the conditions of the era of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the United States, and on the basis of the idea of seeking a peaceful solution to the Taiwan issue, Established the major policy of striving for the peaceful reunification of the motherland, creatively put forward the scientific concept of "one country, two systems", and firstly applied it to solve the problems of Hong Kong and Macau; actively eased the military confrontation between the two sides of the strait, and promoted the breaking of the long-term isolation between the two sides of the strait. , to open the door for people-to-people exchanges and cooperation between the two sides of the strait, and bring the cross-strait relationship into a new historical stage.

After the Fourth Plenary Session of the Thirteenth Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the Chinese Communists, with Comrade Jiang Zemin as the main representative, put forward eight proposals for developing cross-strait relations and promoting the process of peaceful reunification of the motherland3; , start cross-strait negotiation and negotiation, realize the first meeting between the leaders of authorized organizations on both sides of the strait, and continue to expand cross-strait exchanges and cooperation in various fields; resolutely carry out the struggle against Lee Teng-hui's activities to split the motherland, and severely crack down on the "Taiwan independence" separatist forces; realize the smooth return of Hong Kong and Macao to the motherland, implement "One country, two systems" has a positive impact on the resolution of the Taiwan issue.

After the 16th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the Chinese Communists, mainly represented by Comrade Hu Jintao, put forward the important idea of peaceful development of cross-strait relations; in response to the rampant "Taiwan independence" separatist activities on the island, the "Anti-Secession Law" was formulated and implemented. The main party leaders met for the first time in 60 years, resolutely thwarted Chen Shui-bian's "de jure Taiwan independence" attempt; opened up a new situation for the peaceful development of cross-strait relations, promoted cross-strait institutionalized negotiation and negotiation to achieve fruitful results, realized comprehensive, direct, two-way "three links" across the strait, signed and implemented the "Strait". Cross-Strait Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement, and the face of cross-Strait relations has undergone profound changes.

Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the Chinese Communists, mainly represented by Comrade Xi Jinping, have fully grasped the changes of the times in cross-strait relations, enriched and developed the national unification theory and policies on Taiwan, promoted the development of cross-strait relations in the right direction, and formed the Communist Party of China in the new era. The overall strategy for resolving the Taiwan issue provides the fundamental guidelines and action plan for doing well in Taiwan in the new era.

In October 2017, the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China established the basic strategy of adhering to "one country, two systems" and promoting the reunification of the motherland, emphasizing: "No one, any organization, any political party, at any time, in any form, or any piece of China will be allowed. The territory is separated from China!" In January 2019, General Secretary Xi Jinping delivered an important speech at the 40th anniversary of the "Message to Compatriots in Taiwan", and solemnly put forward the important tasks of promoting the peaceful development of cross-strait relations and the peaceful reunification of the motherland in the new era. Policy proposition: work together to promote national rejuvenation and achieve the goal of peaceful reunification; explore the "two systems" plan for Taiwan and enrich the practice of peaceful reunification; adhere to the one-China principle and maintain the prospect of peaceful reunification; , to promote peaceful unity and recognition.

The Communist Party of China and the Chinese government have taken a series of major measures to lead the development of cross-strait relations and promote the peaceful reunification of the motherland:

——Promoting the realization of the first meeting and direct dialogue between leaders of the two sides since 1949, elevating cross-strait exchanges and interaction to a new level, opening a new chapter and opening up new space for the development of cross-strait relations, and becoming a new milestone on the road of cross-strait relations. milestone.

The departments in charge of cross-strait affairs on both sides have established a normalized communication mechanism on the basis of common politics, and the heads of the two departments have exchanged visits and opened hotlines.

——Adhering to the one-China principle and the "1992 Consensus", promoting inter-party exchanges between political parties on both sides of the strait, conducting dialogues and consultations with relevant political parties, groups and people in Taiwan on cross-strait relations and the future of the nation, exchanging in-depth views, reaching a number of consensuses and issuing joint initiatives , and work with all sectors of Taiwanese society to explore the "two systems" Taiwan plan.

——Practice the concept of "cross-strait one family", take the well-being of compatriots on both sides of the strait as the basis, promote the peaceful development and integrated development of cross-strait relations, improve the institutional arrangements and policy measures to promote cross-strait exchanges and cooperation, and protect the well-being of Taiwan compatriots, and implement the card-type Taiwan compatriot certificate , to realize the supply of water from Fujian to Kinmen, to issue residence permits for Taiwan residents, to gradually provide equal treatment for Taiwan compatriots to study, start a business, work and live in the mainland, and continue to take the lead in sharing development opportunities in the mainland with Taiwan compatriots.

——Unite the vast number of Taiwan compatriots, eliminate the interference and obstruction of "Taiwan independence" separatist forces, and promote cross-strait exchanges and cooperation in various fields and personnel exchanges.

Overcoming the impact of the new crown pneumonia epidemic, insisted on holding a series of cross-strait exchange activities such as the Straits Forum, and maintained the development trend of exchanges and cooperation between compatriots on both sides of the strait.

  - Resolutely defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity, resolutely oppose "Taiwan independence" secession and interference by external forces, and vigorously safeguard peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait and the fundamental interests of the Chinese nation.

Fight against "Taiwan independence" diehards in accordance with the law, and effectively deter "Taiwan independence" separatist forces.

Properly handle the issue of Taiwan's foreign exchanges, and consolidate and develop the pattern in which the international community adheres to the one-China principle.

Under the leadership and promotion of the Communist Party of China, the cross-Strait relations have developed by leaps and bounds over the past 70 years, especially since the isolation of the two sides of the strait was broken.

The increasingly extensive exchanges and cooperation between the two sides of the strait and the increasingly close interactions have brought tangible benefits to the compatriots on both sides of the strait, especially the compatriots in Taiwan.

In 1978, the cross-strait trade volume was only 46 million US dollars, and it will increase to 328.34 billion US dollars in 2021, an increase of more than 7,000 times; the mainland has been Taiwan's largest export market for 21 consecutive years, bringing a large surplus to Taiwan every year; the mainland is a foreign investment by Taiwanese businessmen By the end of 2021, Taiwanese companies have invested in a total of 123,781 mainland projects, with an actual investment of US$71.34 billion4.

In 1987, there were less than 50,000 cross-strait personnel exchanges, and in 2019, there were about 9 million.

Affected by the epidemic in the past three years, online communication has become the main form of communication and interaction between compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait.

The Communist Party of China has always been the backbone of the Chinese people and the Chinese nation, and a strong leadership core for national rejuvenation and national reunification.

The history of the Communist Party of China's unremitting efforts to resolve the Taiwan issue and realize the complete reunification of the motherland has fully demonstrated that it must adhere to the one-China principle and never allow anyone or any force to separate Taiwan from the motherland; To seek happiness, we must always be committed to realizing the yearning for a better life for compatriots on both sides of the strait; we must adhere to emancipating the mind, seeking truth from facts, upholding integrity and innovation, grasping the fundamental interests of the nation and the core interests of the country, and formulating and implementing policies for Taiwan; All forces that undermine China's sovereignty and territorial integrity and attempt to block the reunification of the motherland must fight resolutely; we must adhere to great unity and unity, and extensively mobilize all positive factors that are conducive to the fight against "independence" and the promotion of reunification, so as to jointly advance the process of reunification of the motherland.

  3. The process of complete reunification of the motherland is unstoppable

At present, against the background of profound and complex changes in both domestic and international situations, the complete reunification of the motherland is facing a new situation.

The Communist Party of China and the Chinese government have the comprehensive strength and confidence to manage complex situations, overcome risks and challenges, and are fully capable of advancing the great cause of national reunification.

  (1) Realizing the complete reunification of the motherland is an inevitable requirement for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation

In the development process of the Chinese nation for more than 5,000 years, the pursuit of unity and opposition to division has always been the mainstream value of the whole nation, and this value has long been deeply integrated into the spiritual blood of the entire Chinese nation.

After modern times, due to the invasion of Western powers and the corruption of feudal rule, China has gradually become a semi-colonial and semi-feudal society.

The history of Taiwan being occupied by Japan for half a century is the epitome of the humiliation of the Chinese nation in modern times, and it has left a heart-wrenching pain for compatriots on both sides of the strait.

The fact that the two sides of the Taiwan Strait have not been fully unified so far is a trauma left to the Chinese nation by history.

Compatriots on both sides of the strait should work together to seek national reunification and heal the wounds of history.

Realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation is the greatest dream of the Chinese people and the Chinese nation since modern times.

Only by realizing the complete reunification of the motherland can the compatriots on both sides of the strait completely get rid of the haze of civil war and jointly create and share lasting peace in the Taiwan Strait; only then can we avoid the danger of Taiwan being occupied by foreign countries again, defeat the attempts of external forces to contain China, and safeguard national sovereignty, security, and development interests; Only then can we eliminate the hidden danger of "Taiwan independence" split, stabilize Taiwan's status as a part of China, and promote the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation; only then can we better gather the strength of compatriots on both sides of the strait to build a common home, enhance the interests and well-being of compatriots on both sides of the strait, and create greater happiness for the Chinese people and the Chinese nation. glorious future.

As Mr. Sun Yat-sen, the great forerunner of China's revolution, said: "'Reunification' is the hope of all Chinese people. If we can reunify, the people of the whole country will enjoy happiness; if we can't reunify, we will suffer."

The Chinese nation has experienced many hardships and vicissitudes in the process of exploring the way to national rejuvenation and prosperity.

"The rule is strong, the division must be chaotic", this is a historical law.

The complete reunification of the motherland is determined by the history and culture of the Chinese nation, as well as by the time and trend of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

We are closer, more confident and capable of realizing the goal of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation than any period in history, and we are also closer, more confident and capable of realizing the goal of complete reunification of the motherland.

The Taiwan issue arose out of national weakness and chaos, and will surely be resolved with the rejuvenation of the nation.

If all Chinese sons and daughters work together in unity, we will surely be able to accomplish the great cause of national reunification in the process of realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation with one heart.

  (2) National development and progress lead the development direction of cross-strait relations

The key factor that determines the direction of cross-strait relations and realizes the complete reunification of the motherland is the development and progress of the country.

The development and progress of the country, especially the great achievements made in reform, opening up and modernization over the past 40 years, have profoundly affected the historical process of resolving the Taiwan issue and realizing the complete reunification of the motherland.

No matter which party or faction is in power in Taiwan, it cannot change the general trend of the development of cross-strait relations and the historical trend of the reunification of the motherland.

According to the statistics of the International Monetary Fund, in 1980, the mainland's GDP was about 303 billion US dollars, Taiwan's GDP was about 42.3 billion US dollars, and the mainland's GDP was 7.2 times that of Taiwan; The gross domestic product is about 789.5 billion US dollars, and the mainland is 22.1 times that of Taiwan.

The development and progress of the country, especially its economic strength, scientific and technological strength, and national defense strength, have not only effectively curbed the separatist activities of "Taiwan independence" and the interference of external forces, but also provided a broad space and great opportunities for cross-strait exchanges and cooperation.

More and more Taiwan compatriots, especially young Taiwanese, come to the mainland to study, start a business, work and live, which has promoted exchanges and integration of all sectors of society on both sides of the strait, deepened the interests and emotional ties of compatriots on both sides of the strait, and enhanced the cultural, ethnic and national identity of compatriots on both sides of the strait. It has strongly pulled the cross-strait relations in the right direction of unification.

The Communist Party of China has united and led the Chinese people to embark on a new journey of building a modern socialist country in an all-round way.

The mainland adheres to the path of socialism with Chinese characteristics, with improved governance efficiency, long-term economic growth, solid material foundation, abundant human resources, broad market space, strong development resilience, and a stable society in general. The drive to advance unity.

Based on the new development stage, implementing new development concepts, building a new development pattern, and promoting high-quality development, the mainland's comprehensive strength and international influence will continue to increase, and the mainland's influence and attractiveness to Taiwanese society will continue to expand. With a stronger foundation and stronger capabilities, it will surely promote the reunification process of the motherland.

  (3) "Taiwan independence" separatist forces resisting reunification will not succeed

Taiwan has been China's sacred territory since ancient times.

The so-called "Taiwan independence" is an attempt to separate Taiwan from China. It is a serious crime of splitting the country. It harms the common interests of compatriots on both sides of the strait and the fundamental interests of the Chinese nation. It is a dead end.

The DPP authorities adhere to the "Taiwan independence" separatist stance, and collude with external forces to continue to provoke "independence".

They refuse to accept the one-China principle, distort and deny the "1992 Consensus", falsely claim that "the Republic of China and the People's Republic of China are not subordinate to each other", and openly throw out the "new two-state theory"; Gradual Taiwan Independence", condoning the "urgent independence" forces clamoring for "revision of the constitution and laws", deceiving the Taiwanese people, inciting hatred of the mainland, obstructing and sabotaging cross-strait exchanges, cooperation and integrated development, and stepping up "use of force to seek independence" and "reject reunification by force"; In collusion with external forces, it strives to create "two Chinas" and "one China, one Taiwan" internationally.

The "independence" actions of the DPP authorities have caused tensions in cross-strait relations, endangered the peace and stability of the Taiwan Strait, undermined the prospect of peaceful reunification, and squeezed the space for peaceful reunification.

Taiwan is the Taiwan of all the Chinese people, including 23 million Taiwan compatriots. The Chinese people's determination to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and safeguard the fundamental interests of the Chinese nation is unshakable and rock-solid. This is to thwart all "Taiwan independence" separatist attempts. Fundamental strength.

More than 100 years ago, China was poor and weak, and Taiwan was occupied by foreign countries.

More than 70 years ago, China defeated the invaders and recaptured Taiwan.

Now China has become the world's second largest economy, and its political, economic, cultural, technological, military and other strengths have been greatly enhanced, and it is even more impossible for Taiwan to separate from China.

Separating and resisting reunification for "Taiwan independence" will never pass the test of the history and culture of the Chinese nation, nor will it pass the test of the determination and will of the more than 1.4 billion Chinese people. It is absolutely impossible to succeed.

  (4) External forces hindering the complete reunification of China will surely fail

Interference by external forces is a prominent obstacle to advancing China's reunification process.

Out of a hegemonic mentality and a Cold War mentality, some forces in the United States regard China as the most important strategic opponent and the most severe long-term challenge.

The United States claims that it "adopts the one-China policy and does not support 'Taiwan independence'", but some forces in the United States have gone against the grain in actual actions.

They falsified and hollowed out the one-China principle, strengthened official exchanges with the Taiwan region, continuously instigated arms sales to Taiwan, deepened the military connection between the United States and Taiwan, helped Taiwan expand the so-called "international space", wooed other countries to intervene in the Taiwan issue, and from time to time concocted damage to China Sovereign Taiwan-related motions.

They confuse right and wrong. On the one hand, they encourage the "Taiwan independence" separatist forces to create tension and turmoil in cross-strait relations, while on the other hand, they groundlessly accuse the mainland of "applying pressure," "coercion," and "unilaterally changing the status quo" for the "Taiwan independence" separatist forces. Support and encourage China to create obstacles to the peaceful reunification of China.

The important principles of respect for national sovereignty and territorial integrity and non-interference in other countries' internal affairs stipulated in the UN Charter are the cornerstone of modern international law and international relations.

Safeguarding national unity and territorial integrity is the sacred right of every sovereign country. Of course, the Chinese government can take all necessary means to resolve the Taiwan issue and achieve national reunification. No external forces are allowed to interfere.

Under the guise of so-called "freedom, democracy, human rights" and "maintaining the rules-based international order", some anti-China forces in the United States deliberately distort the nature of the Taiwan issue as purely China's internal affairs, and attempt to deny the Chinese government's commitment to safeguarding national sovereignty and territorial integrity. legitimacy and rationality.

This fully exposed their political plot to "use Taiwan to control China" and obstruct China's reunification, and must be thoroughly exposed and severely condemned.

When external forces play the "Taiwan card", they regard Taiwan as a pawn to contain China's development and progress and obstruct the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. They sacrifice the interests, well-being and bright future of Taiwan compatriots, not for the good of Taiwan compatriots.

They indulge and incite "Taiwan independence" separatist forces to stir up troubles and provocations, intensify cross-strait confrontation and tension across the Taiwan Strait, and undermine peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific region. They go against the trend of the times for peace, development and win-win results, as well as the expectations of the international community and the will of the people of the world. .

At the beginning of the founding of the People's Republic of China, in a situation where all kinds of wastes were waiting to be rebuilt and all industries were waiting to be promoted, the Communist Party of China and the Chinese government closely relied on the people to overcome "more steel and less gas" with "less steel and more gas", and won the great victory of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea. It has defended the security of New China, demonstrated its status as a great power, and demonstrated our steadfastness to not be afraid of rape and resist power.

China will unswervingly follow the path of peaceful development. At the same time, China will never back down under the pressure of any external interference, and will never tolerate any damage to national sovereignty, security and development interests.

There is no way out for "relying on foreign countries to seek independence", and "using Taiwan to control China" is doomed to fail.

Peace, development, and a good life are the common aspirations of Taiwan compatriots, and creating a better life is the common pursuit of compatriots on both sides of the strait.

Under the strong leadership of the Communist Party of China, the Chinese people and the Chinese nation have ushered in a great leap from standing up, becoming rich, and becoming strong. The motherland, which is poor and poor, and has a large population, has built a moderately prosperous society in an all-round way. We are better equipped, more confident, and more powerful. Have the ability to accomplish the great cause of reunification of the motherland and let compatriots on both sides of the strait live a better life.

The historical wheel of the reunification of the motherland is rolling forward, and no one or any force can stop it.

  4. Promoting the reunification of the motherland in the new era and new journey
