It is noted that in one of the photographs published by the newspaper, “someone tramples on the state flag of the Russian Federation”.
“We consider the very fact of publishing such a photograph in the central print media of Iceland as a manifestation of undisguised disrespect for the Russian Federation and its state symbols,” the diplomatic mission said.
The embassy said they were expecting an official apology from the newspaper's editors.
Earlier, the Russian embassy sent a note of protest to Germany over the desecration of the Soviet military memorial in Werneuchen.
