“We express concern over Japan's plans to release water from the Fukushima-1 nuclear power plant into the ocean.

We urge Japan to show maximum transparency in connection with these plans," the TASS diplomat was quoted as saying.

He called on official Tokyo to allow interested countries to monitor these actions.

Earlier, the head of the specialized division of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Akihito Kato, said that nuclear power plants (NPPs) could be resumed in Japan to reduce dependence on Russian gas.

In June, the Japanese authorities decided to cancel the emergency status for some areas of the Okuma village, which are located in close proximity to the Fukushima-1 nuclear power plant.
