Europe 1 Studio SEASON 2021 - 202207:00 a.m., August 10, 2022

Discover the story dedicated to Leonardo da Vinci, Italian master and obviously painter of the Mona Lisa.

It was this work that took him on the road in 1515, heading for France and more specifically the Château d'Amboise where François I had invited him to stay.

Leonardo da Vinci was then 64 years old, his health declining.

He has the intuition that this trip will be the last.

Why did France, and in particular Clos-Lucé where he finally settled, seem like a refuge for the Tuscan master?

What plans does François I, a young sovereign who has just covered himself with glory at the Battle of Marignan, have for him?

In this first part of the episode produced by Europe 1 Studio, Clémentine Portier-Kaltenbach draws a portrait of Leonardo da Vinci who no longer has all his physical faculties to paint.

But whose genius remains intact.

In 1515, after the famous battle of Marignan, Leonardo da Vinci responded to François I's invitation and headed for France.

The Italian master takes with him his masterpiece, the Mona Lisa, and gets closer to Amboise.

François Ier did not want to make him a painter dedicated to court portraits, the master's health was declining, but he had other ambitions for him... Leonardo da Vinci then moved to Clos-Lucé where a project hunted other.

The ingenuity of the Tuscan is then at its peak!
