The county of Jönköping stands out in the latest report from Swedish broker statistics on sold condominiums.

While average prices in the country decreased by 7.6 percent over the past three months, they increased in Jönköping County by almost 5 percent.

Only three other counties are increasing, and Jönköping County accounts for the absolute largest increase.

The price increase is taking place despite rising interest rates and economic unrest in Sweden, which partly surprises brokers.

- I probably expected a decline here as well, says Henrik Lagerquist at Länsförsäkringar Fastighetsförmedling.

Fewer deals are closed

The anxiety in the housing market is nevertheless felt by speculators being more cautious and fewer deals being completed.

- That may be a reason why prices do not fall.

The deals that are actually closed are when buyers and sellers agree on the price, while in other cases sellers may pause the sale and stay for a while if you don't get what you want.

Why are prices increasing so much in Jönköping County?

- Jönköping is a very strong growth location and an engine for the county that spills over to other municipalities with commuting distance.

Even though the interest rate has increased now, it is still historically low, says Henrik Lagerquist.

Villa prices are going down

As for house prices, the trend is different.

There, prices in the county have decreased by 1.2 percent in the last three months, but at the same time it is slightly less than in the country as a whole.
