“Sanctions don't work.

Most of all, they cause damage to countries such as Slovakia.

The West has gone completely crazy,” he wrote on his social networks.

His words are reported by RIA Novosti.

The former Slovak prime minister expressed confidence that the proof of the ineffectiveness of sanctions against Russia is the stoppage of the transit of Russian oil through Ukraine through the Druzhba pipeline.

“Not Russia, but Ukraine has stopped oil supplies via the southern branch of the pipeline to Central Europe,” Fico stressed.

The Slovak politician explained that Russia had already paid for the transit of oil, but the Kyiv authorities did not accept the payments, citing Western anti-Russian sanctions.

Earlier, the press secretary, adviser to the president of Transneft, Igor Dyomin, said that Ukrtransnafta had stopped the pumping of oil through the southern branch of the Druzhba oil pipeline system to Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

Later, the Hungarian oil and gas company MOL confirmed that oil supplies through the Druzhba pipeline had been stopped.
