About 600 meters of optical fiber cables and signal lines were stolen, affecting high-speed rail communications, signals and other facilities.

The high-speed train line between Madrid and Catalonia was suspended for several hours, affecting thousands of passengers.

The high-speed rail has now resumed operation.

  The Catalan Autonomous Region police arrested a 19-year-old man at the scene of the theft that day and recovered some of the stolen materials.

The man has been charged with crimes including violent robbery.
