On July 31, Roudier reportedly posted a video message on Twitter on the occasion of Journalist's Day, in which he stated, in part, that journalists should "be irreverent to lift the curtain to look with a magnifying glass into uncomfortable places and offer new light and perspectives."

He noted that society needs "pluralistic and disrespectful" journalism.

According to him, media workers are agents of change and their work should be appreciated.

The head of the faction of the New Ideas party, Christian Guevara, criticized Roudier.

“Dear Ambassador, wasn't RT diverse, different and disrespectful?

I ask because in El Salvador no newspaper is banned or censored, but in Europe it is,” he said.

New Ideas MP William Soriano also wrote a comment on Twitter.

“Dear François, does this phrase refer to the censored Russian media all over Europe?”

he asked, citing an excerpt from an El País article with the headline "RT banned in Europe, but hundreds of sites allow you to view its content."

Commenting on such a reaction to his video message, Rudier said he was surprised that his congratulations on the Day of the Journalist caused so much passion.

“I invite you to learn more about RT and its use as an official Russian propaganda tool,” he added.

RT Deputy Editor-in-Chief Anna Belkina noted that El Salvador had recently started picking up a Spanish-language TV channel on the Claro network, one of the largest pay-TV operators in the region.
