Prime Minister Kishida confirmed his intention to appoint Defense Minister Kishi as Special Advisor to the Prime Minister in charge of national security in line with the Cabinet reshuffle.

Prime Minister Kishida has confirmed his intention to appoint Defense Minister Nobuo Kishi as his successor as Minoru Terada, who is the national security advisor to the Prime Minister, will be appointed as Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications in the cabinet reshuffle on the 10th.



Mr. Kishi is 63 years old and has been elected four times to the Yamaguchi 2nd District of the House of Representatives.



He was the younger brother of former Prime Minister Abe, who passed away, and after serving as State Minister for Foreign Affairs, he entered the cabinet for the first time as Minister of Defense in the Kan Cabinet.



As Prime Minister Kishida, amidst the increasingly severe security environment surrounding Japan, by appointing Mr. Kishi, Minister of Defense, as Advisor to the Prime Minister in charge of national security, who is also involved in the NSC (National Security Council). It seems that the aim is to steadily advance discussions on the revision of the three security-related documents to be compiled at the end of the year.
