  Earlier, the U.S. Senate on the 3rd local time, with 95 votes in favor and 1 vote against, voted to approve the applications of Finland and Sweden to join NATO.

  Finland and Sweden formally applied to join NATO in May this year.

According to the regulations, NATO must "unanimously agree" on the premise of 30 member states to admit new members.

Turkey, which was previously opposed, signed a memorandum with Finland and Sweden in June this year after several rounds of consultations, confirming its support for Finland and Sweden to join NATO, removing obstacles for the two countries to join the treaty.
