According to civil registration data, the suspected boy will turn 13 in 2022. But already at an early stage of the investigation, doubts arose about this information.

- The parents have explained in police interrogations that they accidentally entered the wrong date of birth for their son when they came to Sweden.

It also seems to be something that has since been reported to the Swedish authorities, says chamber prosecutor Irene Falk, who is the acting head of the preliminary investigation.

Prosecutors assess that there was reason to assume that the suspect turned 15 when the crime was committed.

It is now confirmed, based on the age assessment, that the suspected boy is 15 years old.

It is unlikely that the girl will be heard

The girl continues to be treated in hospital and it is unlikely that she will be heard in the investigation.

- The assessment is that it would not be in the girl's best interest to try to conduct an interrogation with her about what happened.

The injuries she sustained in the incident also mean that her ability to remember and tell about what happened can be expected to be low.

Our hope is instead that the other investigation - witness interviews, medical examination and the technical analyzes - will be able to give us a sufficiently clear picture of what happened at the scene, says Irene Falk.
