The Raid police intervened this Saturday at the end of the afternoon in Argenteuil (Val-d'Oise) after a 22-year-old man took refuge in a hotel room in the city.

Since the middle of the day, the individual had been making suicidal remarks and claimed to be armed.

The police, firefighters and the Samu were initially dispatched to the scene, reports

The area around the hotel was closed to the public and guests of the establishment were evacuated.

The Raid police then arrived on the scene with six of their vehicles.

They stormed shortly before 5 p.m.

Witnesses then heard an explosion.

No weapon found

The young man entrenched on the ground floor was neutralized by electric pulse pistol fire.

He was slightly injured.

Supported by the rescuers, the individual was however able to be entrusted to the police.

A search of his hotel room showed that no weapon was in fact in his possession.
