The investigation opened after the murder this Wednesday of an inmate of the Pontet prison, near Avignon (Vaucluse) has made significant progress.

Two other prisoners from the detention center were indicted for "intentional homicide" on Friday.

They were among the five individuals present at the time of the victim's death and placed in police custody, reports France Bleu Vaucluse.

The other three detainees had been cleared and had been taken back to their cells.

The first indicted, a 19-year-old young man, admitted to having stabbed the victim with a ceramic knife, said the public prosecutor.

“Voluntary homicide” and “complicity”

Facts of “complicity in intentional homicide” are accused of the second individual.

The motive of the two prisoners was not specified.

The 22-year-old victim had died after being stabbed during a shared walk with other inmates in the disciplinary section of the penitentiary establishment.
