The Salwa port is one of the most important border crossings in Saudi Arabia, and it witnesses the exchange of goods and the transit of people between Qatar and Saudi Arabia, especially with the FIFA World Cup being held in Qatar next November, and the Salwa land port will be an important link for the transit of travelers from all over the world, During the World Cup in Qatar.

According to Saudi media, there will be proposed mechanisms and protocols for the entry of football fans from different countries, from Saudi Arabia to Qatar, during the World Cup.

The Prince of the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia, Prince Saud bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz, who attended the opening of the port, confirmed that the new Salwa port will contribute to enhancing the movement of vehicles and travelers, in addition to its role in enhancing the volume of trade exchange and economic relations between the two countries.

For his part, Engineer Suhail bin Muhammad Abanmi, Governor of the Saudi Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority, said that the new Salwa port project is now equipped with integrated services and facilities to serve all transiting through it, stressing that the port will represent an important supporter for enhancing the movement of vehicles and travelers, in addition to its role in enhancing the volume of trade exchange. and economic relations between Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

The Salwa port is located 5.5 kilometers west of the Qatar border, and 1.3 kilometers west of Salwa city. It is the only land port between the Kingdom and the State of Qatar. It is 460 kilometers from the Saudi capital (Riyadh) and 90 kilometers from the Qatari capital (Doha).

It is estimated that more than 350 thousand trucks carrying thousands of tons of goods pass through it annually from both sides, while more than 1.3 million vehicles cross it.
