The project goes by the name "your democratic right" and is a collaboration between Sunderby folk high school, Esperanza, Hey stranger!, Unga örnar and the Authority for youth and civil society groups.

About half of the 50 places that the education offers are registered during the first days of the week.

- The interest has been great, I think.

There are approximately 25 people who come every day except for Thursday, when there will be 95 of us.

I think that's a good turnout, says Maria Öhman, pedagogue at Sunderby folk high school.

During Thursday, the folk high school will conduct its own election where the participants can try out what it's like to vote.

- We have made it so that it will be as authentic as possible.

We have the ballot box, ballot papers, envelopes, screen and attendance list, says Öhman.

Follow-up after the election

Those who participate in the democracy week are tasked with talking to people in their vicinity about the importance of voting, encouraging others and spreading information about how it is done.

After the election, there will be follow-ups at Sunderby Folkhögskola where, among other things, it will be discussed how it was possible to vote.

In the clip, educator Maria Öhman talks about why the project is important.
