• Events The Ávila fire advances although it is still far from the houses and in the Boiro fire the evolution is favorable

The

fire

in the Avila municipality of

Santa Cruz del Valle

, which was declared last Friday, remains at level 2.

The territorial delegate of the Board,

José Francisco Hernández Herrero

, has given an order to evict, as a preventive measure, the

urbanization 'El picadero'

in the municipality of Pedro Bernardo, following a proposal from the director of extinction.

The measure affects

a dozen houses

, the closest to one of the flanks of the

Santa Cruz del Valle fire.

The technical director of Extinction,

Ángel Iglesias,

has been blunt: "We are in a bad way.

We have not managed to meet the objectives

we had", he acknowledged after a very complicated third day, in which the operation has increased to

more than 500 troops land and 33 air assets

, whose work has been complicated at times by smoke.

The fire

has been reproduced in many areas, in some quite virulent, but in principle, according to Iglesias, the perimeter "

continues to advance slowly

."

The

flame fronts

that had been more or less stabilized have returned to reproduce quite virulently in many areas, helped, among other things, by

the large amount of accumulated fuel

, a mountain full of trees -mainly pines-, scrub and vegetation very dry, fruit of the

intense heat of this summer

.

"Indications of intent"

For the

Junta de Castilla y León

, there are

"indications of intentionality"

in the origin of the fire.

The mayor of Santa Cruz del Valle, Enrique Rodríguez, has said that the fire has been

"intentional, with capital letters"

.

In these days of intense work,

members of the operation have suffered from heat stroke

and a member of the El Pico port brigade has suffered a sprained knee.

So far this summer,

the province of Ávila

has suffered several fires, among which the one in Cebreros stands out, which devastated

more than 4,200 hectares

, together with the one in San Juan de la Nava, in which more than 500 burned.
