Pedro Sánchez considers the dialogue with the autonomous communities to have been settled with a view to the entry into force this Wednesday of the royal decree with the energy saving measures once the Energy Sector Conference between the Government and the regional councilors has been held today.

In this way, the president has warned the PP, which today demanded the "immediate withdrawal" of the plan, that "the laws are complied with."

The chief executive thus ignores the request made yesterday by the leader of the opposition, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, to convene a Conference of Presidents this week to "agree" on the measures that the communities will have to apply in part.

The PP has insisted again today on that request, however, Sánchez has distanced himself with the argument that the Government was already "in contact" with the autonomies "before" giving the green light to the royal decree in the Council of Ministers and that this Monday a new specific meeting was held between the Third Vice President and Minister for Energy Transition, Teresa Ribera, and the advisors of the branch.

"Therefore", the president has remarked, "I would ask the PP for unity, responsibility and solidarity".

It is the triple claim that Sánchez has focused on during a press conference with the president of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, at the headquarters of the Cabildo de Lanzarote.

In it, he stressed that the situation "demands" the PP and the administrations to "put their shoulders to the wheel" and "join the collective effort" to deal with the consequences of the invasion of Ukraine.

In any case, he has warned the PP that "responsibility" means "complying with what is approved by the Council of Ministers."

Because the laws, he has underlined, "are complied with" and it is "what public administrations have to do".

Faced with criticism from the PP and its rejection of the plan, Sánchez has defended that it is a "coherent" plan and that it is "in line" with the rest of the European countries as a result of a commitment to reduce energy consumption by 7% in the case of Spain and 15% in the case of other nations.

For all these reasons, he has indicated that there will be no steps back on his part because Spain "is going to comply".

In addition, he has underlined the example of "unity" that is taking place within the European Union.

Sánchez has opposed the PP, whom he has reproached for its attitude and who has regretted that asking for "unity, responsibility and solidarity" is like "preaching in the desert" because they have not done it for "two years" with "the pandemic and now with the war."

Thus, he has accused the

popular ones

of practicing their "always opposition", which he has described as "destructive", that "blocks", "denialist" and that does not seek "unity".

Regarding the doubts about the economic impact of the energy plan, the president has pointed out that among the advantages is that it will mean "saving money" on the electricity bill, as well as to face the "climate emergency".

In addition, he has had an impact, it means standing up to "Putin's blackmail".
