The murder-suspect brothers were detained on Wednesday on suspicion of having killed their mother in Hisingen.

The prosecutor believes that motives of honor may lie behind the murder.

On Monday, the younger brother's lawyer submitted an appeal to the Court of Appeal for Western Sweden, where the defense requests that the suspect be released.

The boy's age and the fact that he did not drive the car himself are highlighted as reasons, and defense lawyer Nan Sahlén believes that there are no sufficient reasons to keep him deprived of his liberty.

"XX has only sat as a passenger in a car driven by someone else.

He was thus unable to influence the situation at all," the appeal reads.

The request was denied

During Monday afternoon, the Court of Appeal announced that the appeal is denied and that the boy will continue to be detained.

According to the boy's defender, Nan Sahlén, it was not a surprising decision

- It is difficult to get an arrest warrant lifted, says Sahlén.

The prosecutor must bring charges no later than September 2, but the prosecution period can be extended, which could lead to the boy's detention period being reconsidered.

- New assessments must be made over time, says Nan Sahlén.

SVT has sought chamber prosecutor Hediye Kurt regarding the appeal, who does not want to make a comment on Monday.
