Israel reopened the border crossings with Gaza today, Monday, after an Egyptian-brokered ceasefire with the "Jihad Movement" ended the most serious fighting in the Palestinian sector in more than a year.

The opening of the crossings allowed fuel trucks to cross to supply the only electric power station in the Strip, which increased the availability of electricity, which was cut off for about eight hours a day.

Calm returned to the Gaza Strip with the entry into force of a ceasefire agreement between the Islamic Jihad and Israel yesterday evening, with Egyptian mediation.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas issued a statement welcoming the tireless efforts made by Egypt to declare a ceasefire in Gaza, considering that this contributes to calming matters and alleviating the suffering of the Palestinian people.

The Ministry of Health in Gaza issued an updated toll for the total number of Palestinian fatalities, which rose to 44, including 15 children and 4 women, and 360 injuries.
