From January to May this year, 1,081 children were born in Värmland, according to figures from Statistics Sweden.

The corresponding figure for 2017 was 1,277. This means that the number of newborns has decreased by around 15 percent over a five-year period.

Reduction in the spring

The figures show a reduction in child births in the spring of this year in the entire country.
