The French veteran (35 years old), 5th at the last World Championships in Eugene (United States), on the other hand failed three times at 5.80 m, a bar which was enough for the Swedish world champion and world record holder Armand Duplantis to win.
Duplantis was then unable to clear 6.01m.
French champion Thibaut Collet took 3rd place in the competition with 5.60m.
The three men have an appointment next week in Munich (Germany) for the European Championships.
