The County Administrative Board in Gävleborg forbids Arlabonden in Hälsingland from taking care of hoofed animals because for a long time he had an animal husbandry that did not meet the requirements of the animal welfare legislation.

But it is not a total ban, the county administration gives the following exception:

The Arla farmer may keep 30 cattle, they may only be dairy cows and they must be kept at the address where the farmer is registered.

Limited ability

- The County Administrative Board assesses that you have limited ability to take care of hoofed animals in accordance with animal welfare legislation, writes the County Administrative Board in its decision.

- Conditions therefore exist to prohibit you from handling more than 30 cattle and that you may not keep cattle for milk production. The prohibition may be considered to be in reasonable proportion to the inconveniences that can be assumed to arise for you.

The farmer now has six weeks to get rid of the animals covered by the ban.

The animal ban is valid until further notice and is not time-limited.
