Ukraine accused Russia on Sunday of bombing the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, Europe's largest, and called for new international sanctions against Moscow for causing "nuclear terrorism".

Ukraine's state nuclear energy company, Energoatom, said Russian forces damaged three radioactive sensors when they bombed the facility again on Saturday evening, wounding one worker with shrapnel.

"Russian nuclear terrorism requires a stronger response from the international community and sanctions against the Russian nuclear sector and fuel," Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky wrote on Twitter.

The station, located in Russian-controlled territory, was bombed on Friday as well.

Moscow accuses Ukrainian forces of launching these strikes.

Energoatom said the latest Russian missile attacks hit the site of the station's dry storage facility, where 174 containers of spent nuclear fuel are stored in the open air.

"Therefore, it is not possible to monitor and respond in time in the event of a deterioration of the radiological situation or a radioactive leak from spent nuclear fuel containers," she added.
