The National Assembly's Administrative Safety Committee held a personnel hearing on the candidacy of Yoon Hee-geun, the Commissioner General of the National Police Agency, on the morning of the 8th to begin verification.

In this personnel hearing, in particular, the opposition and opposition parties are expected to clash head-on over the legality of the establishment of the police department.

The opposition party, the Democratic Party of Korea, plans to focus on the fact that the new police department was established through the revision of the enforcement ordinance without the revision of the Government Organization Act, which requires the consent of the National Assembly.

The ruling party, People's Power, is expected to respond with the logic that the establishment of a police station through the revision of the enforcement ordinance was legal.

In addition, the opposition parties are expected to clash over the meeting of the superintendents held in protest against the establishment of the police department, the disciplinary issue of Superintendent Ryu Sam-young, the controversy over the appointment of the police chief, and the reform plan for the police force.

On this day, candidate Yoon's personnel hearing will be attended as witnesses by Min Kwan-ki, the head of the Cheongju Heungdeok Police Station works council, and Kim Ho-cheol, chairman of the National Police Commission, Lee Woong-hyeok, a professor of police department at Konkuk University, Jeong Seung-yoon, a professor at Pusan National University Law School, and Kim Tae-gyu, a lawyer.

Superintendent Ryu, who had initially requested the adoption of a witness by the opposition, does not attend the personnel hearing of candidate Yoon, but instead appears as a witness at the work report of the Ministry of Public Administration and Security and the National Police Agency scheduled to be held on the 16th.
